BusinessInterviews.com: Where does your passion for travel come from and how does that translate into how you approach your role with Trip38?
Sesh: We are all passionate about travel, technology and entrepreneurship (not necessarily in the order!) and aiming to do something fundamentally different and create a world-class product for the global consumer.
While there are products and mobile apps focusing on the search or the transaction side of the travel taken care of, there are very few (or none probably) exist in the market place delivering location specific content around your place of stay with no or little effort from the traveler. We aim to precisely address that gap.
BusinessInterviews.com: How did you come up with the concept behind Trip38? Can you talk a bit about the development process and any challenges you encountered along the way?
Sesh: We’ve known each other for few years and have been meeting regularly to brainstorm various ideas in travel and beyond. In one of the many meetings, we debated on lack of post booking solutions to the customers and months of research and survey led to create this unique product for the global consumer. Of course, like every other startup, we tossed different ideas, pivoted from hotel only app to the current form, etc… However, one thing remained constant – wanting to help travelers find the right information when they travel and we are laser focused on that aspect.

Sesh: Apart from the traditional online and offline channels, online media channels have tremendously helped gaining traction for us. The best one of course was coverage done by BBC World in their travel program aired across the world few weeks back.
BusinessInterviews.com: What milestone has meant the most to you so far?
Sesh: Getting the initial traction has meant lot to us since it clearly validated our thinking has been on the ball. The immediate goal remains to get 50,000 downloads in the next 3 months.
BusinessInterviews.com: What are some trends in the travel industry that you’re excited about?
Sesh: During the last few years, the shift towards search and discovery has provided lot of investor attention and traction, the real excitement would be around holiday trip planning, mobile access and local trip guides and some of these ideas can truly be disruptive in the next few years.
BusinessInterviews.com: You’ve managed to gain an impressive amount of traction in a short period of time, how do you plan to keep the momentum going?
Sesh: The traction was primarily due to positive media coverage including BBC World and we feel we are able to strike a chord with the traveler. We intend to keep the momentum going by adding lot of new innovative new features like Social, Search/Discovery and Trip share with your friends etc so that you keep using Trip38 mobile App when you travel more often!
