BusinessInterviews.com: What inspired you to launch your business?

Ravi Trivedi: In 2011, after moving back to India from the United States, I found that E-commerce space was growing in India at a rapid pace. The concept of building a coupon site sparked me then. I thought such a site would be a great help for customers looking for discounts while they do online shopping and can benefit from this trend.
I have been into deal hunting while in the United States and was also a marketer running online businesses. So, I decided to bring in my interest, skills, and business opportunity together. Thus, CouponRani.com started in July 2012.

BusinessInterviews.com: Do you have any recent success stories that you’d like to share with our readers?

Ravi Trivedi: The most recent would be nothing but the SAAS product PushEngage.com. It is a leading platform for Browser Push Notifications. We are live in 115+ countries till now.

BusinessInterviews.com: What issue does your core product help solve and how so?

Ravi Trivedi: We are basically a couponing site and coupons, offers, and deals help online shoppers to save more. We at CouponRani aggregate all these under one roof to help people find them more easily and conveniently. Thus, they can use the relevant coupon or an offer or a deal that will help them save on their purchase no matter what.

BusinessInterviews.com: What has been your biggest challenge as a business owner and how have you met that challenge?

Ravi Trivedi: As an entrepreneur, anything that obstructs me from growing is indeed is challenging. For me, nothing is big/small but, all are looked upon as something that needs to be cleared off for the smooth performance and growth of the company. Since am a person who likes to take up risks in life, I have been able to tackle them with confidence. If you have the determination of getting things done, then I feel any challenge is just immaterial.

BusinessInterviews.com: Where do you envision your company in 5 years, 10 years, 20 years?

Ravi Trivedi: The ecommerce industry is not seeing a drastic growth in India right now, and so the short term would be little painful for all the players. But, I would try to see strong industry growth in next 5 to 10 years. And for me, CouponRani will be a relevant and key player in the industry.

BusinessInterviews.com: What advice do you have for other entrepreneurs and business owners? What do you wish someone told you?

Ravi Trivedi: 1) Just Do it – don’t overthink
2) There are millions of business ideas around, pick the one that you feel can be well-executed.
3) Don’t ever give up easily!
4) Focus on building a business – funding will follow, and not the other way round

BusinessInterviews.com: What’s the biggest risk that you’ve ever taken and how did it turn out?

Ravi Trivedi: As an entrepreneur, you are bound to take too many risks. Some will work for you and some may not. For me, CouponRani was started off with just two people on board and that too from a scratch. So, risk factors were more in every perspective and even in incorporating new ideas. For me, hiring new talents at an initial stage was a challenge, but I decided on taking some risks, and luckily it paid off.
