BusinessInterviews.com:  Namerific sells “Brandable Domains”…    can you elaborate on what makes a domain name Brandable and what doesn’t?  Examples?

Michael:  A brandable domain is a domain that can be used to ‘brand’ your business.  It will be the first thing that your potential customers see when they interact with your company.  It will be what your customer envisions when they think about your business (name/logo).  Some domains are more brandable than others.  For example, one of our domains, Hoopio.com is very easy to spell, pronounce, remember, and it is also fun to say.  A domain like Huupeo.com has a strange spelling, is confusing to pronounce, and might be difficult to remember because of its awkwardness.

BusinessInterviews.com:  The domain names on your site already have logos designed and displayed with each name.  Other domain name market places only list the domain name, why does Namerific include a predesigned logo with each name?

Michael:  We hire professional designers to build a visual image of a brand that we package our domains in.  It is easier for our customers to scroll through logos to pick a name rather than searching many lines of text alone.  We sell brands, and a logo is an integral part of a brand because it is visual.

BusinessInterviews.com:  How many domain names do you typically have listed for sale at any given time and how many of those sell each month on average?

Michael:  We have around 3000 brands for sale currently, and the number is increasing at a steady pace as we acquire more and more premium domains.

BusinessInterviews.com:  Does Namerific own all of the names listed for sale or do you also sell names owned by others?

Michael:  We own a portion of the listings, and the rest are owned by domain sellers. Sellers come to us to sell their domains because they know that we will package their domain with a beautiful logo, and ultimately it may fetch a higher price than if it was listed on another site.

BusinessInterviews.com:  If you do sell domains owned by others, does Namerific have in-house escrow services to process sales transactions?  If yes, how does that look?

Michael:  Yes, we manage all sales in house, and act as an escrow service ourselves. If a customer or seller is not comfortable using us as the service, there are alternatives available.

BusinessInterviews.com:  Are you selling primarily to business start-ups? Existing businesses?  Individuals?

Michael:  Our customers come from across the board.  Many are branding professionals that work for agencies and need to find a name for their clients.  Some are work from home entrepreneurs who have built an app that they need to brand.  Some are fortune 500 companies wishing to acquire a premium brand to launch a new product.

BusinessInterviews.com:  Do you have a “sweet spot” price range where most of your deals happen?

The majority of our deals are in the $X,XXX range, however we do sell names in the $XX,XXX range from time to time… it really depends on the rarity and uniqueness of the domain name. We recently increased all of our domains so that the floor price is $999.  This reflects an increase in pricing among ‘.com’ domains which are becoming more and more rare as time goes on.
